Online Computer Class and Training From Home
Whether you need basic computer training classes or in depth Microsoft Office training, My Reno Computer Tutor can provide the online computer class you need just as easily as face to face. Training is always instructor led which means you’re never left to figure things out on your own.
Working from your home office became common place with the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020. Well before that time, My Reno Computer Tutor offered online computer training classes. April 2014, we posted a Tips & Tricks on How to Use Join.me, and more recently we’ve been using Zoom. Both programs (as well as many others) provide screen sharing capabilities. The trainer is able to see your screen, allowing you to work on your own computer. The testimonial below is a Google Review dated 2017.
Online computer training requires both the client and instructor to be using the same software. We need to be able to see your computer screen. App options include Zoom, Microsoft Teams, LogMeIn (many versions, including Join.me), Google Meet, and Facebook Rooms.
What is Required for an Online Computer Class?
Ideally, both client and instructor should have cameras and microphones. These can be either after market attachments, or built-in. Many laptops and all-in-one computers have cameras and microphones built right in. If you’re using a desktop computer that doesn’t have either, your local office supply store will carry them. (such as Office Depot or BestBuy.
Best Case
Scenario:
- Screen Share application [Zoom]
- Speakers
- Web Camera
- Microphone
Less Than Ideal
(but it works):
- Screen Share application [Zoom]
- Telephone (takes the place of the speakers and microphone)
The key to online computer classes is the trainers ability to see the computer screen of the client. This of course allows the client to use their own computer, and the instructor to see what they’re doing. Even without sharing mouse or keyboard control, if the instructor can see the screen, they can help. If both people can hear one another, asking and answering questions is possible.
Online Sharing Mouse and Keyboard Control
